Roles in Agent-Oriented Modeling
نویسندگان
چکیده
For the generic specification of protocols, goals, or workflows, many approaches to agentoriented modeling provide a concept of role. Roles abstract from the concrete agents involved in an interaction. They provide means for the evolution of agents and serve as components of agent design. Despite the wide-spread usage of roles in agent-oriented modeling, a systematic analysis of the different aspects and properties of this concept is still missing. In this paper, we perform such an analysis and identify requirements for a general role concept. We develop such a role concept for a modeling approach based on the UML and graph transformation systems and exemplify its use for the specification (and application) of protocols. Finally, we provide a run-time semantics for roles based on concepts from the theory of graph transformation.

Abstract: Agent-oriented software engineering is developing a new field of computer science in terms of agent-oriented methodologies, systematic approach to the analysis, design, implementation and maintenance of multiple offers. One of the major challenges in the agent- oriented software engineering is that in spite of numerous methodologies have been introduced in this area, there are still s...
متن کاملMethod integration: An approach to develop agent oriented methodologies
Agent oriented software engineering (AOSE) is an emerging field in computer science and proposes some systematic ideas for multi agent systems analysis, implementation and maintenance. Despite the various methodologies introduced in the agent-oriented software engineering, the main challenges are defects in different aspects of methodologies. According to the defects resulted from weaknesses ...
متن کاملRIO: Roles, Interactions and Organizations
The notions of role and organization have often been emphasized in several agent oriented methodologies. Sadly, the notion of interaction has seldom been reified in these methodologies. We define here a model of runnable specification of interaction protocols. Then, we propose a methodology for the design of open multi-agent systems based on an engineering of interaction protocols. These intera...
متن کاملUtilizing Dynamic Roles for Agents
The development of Agent Oriented Software Engineering (AOSE) and the use of roles within AOSE have been suggested as an important enabling feature in the future development of robust software systems. This paper seeks to identify and develop the definition of roles within an existing agent-oriented modelling language, namely FAML. The paper discusses the importance of role reuse, the process o...
متن کاملAgent UML: A Formalism for Specifying Multiagent Interaction
In the past, research on agent-oriented software engineering had been widely lacking touch with the world of industrial software development. Recently, a cooperation has been established between the Foundation of Intelligent Physical Agents (FIPA) and the Object Management Group (OMG) aiming to increase acceptance of agent technology in industry by relating to de facto standards (object-oriente...
